Getting started

How do I create an account?

Go to ovarli.app/app/ and click "Create an account". Two options: email + password (12 characters minimum), or authentication via your Google account. During the closed beta, your sign-up may be subject to manual approval; you will receive an email once it is confirmed.

I forgot my password, what do I do?

Email-based password reset is coming in a future release. In the meantime, write to hello@ovarli.app with the email address linked to your account. We will perform a manual reset after verifying your identity.

Why does Ovarli require a 12-character minimum password?

Financial data is sensitive. A long password is the most effective defense against brute-force attacks, more effective than "complexity" via special characters. We also recommend enabling two-factor authentication (see Security section below).

Security

How do I enable two-factor authentication (2FA)?

Sign in, open your Profile, "Two-factor authentication" section. Scan the QR code with a standard TOTP application (Google Authenticator, Authy, 1Password, Bitwarden, etc.) then confirm with the 6-digit code generated. Once enabled, your 2FA code will be requested at every sign-in.

What if I lose my phone with the 2FA app?

Write to hello@ovarli.app with your account email. After verifying your identity (typically by confirming a few unique elements), we will manually disable 2FA so you can reconfigure it. We recommend keeping a backup of your TOTP seed in a secure manager to avoid this procedure.

Are passwords stored in clear?

No. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt before storage. We can never retrieve your password in clear, even ourselves. That is why the procedure for a forgotten password goes through a reset rather than sending the password.

Is my data encrypted?

The connection between your browser and our servers is encrypted in HTTPS (TLS 1.3). Database backups are encrypted. Data is stored on infrastructure located in Switzerland. Client-side end-to-end encryption (where even Ovarli could not read your data) is under consideration for a future version.

Plans and billing

What are the plans and their differences?

When is billing activated?

During the beta phase, plans are assigned manually by our team and are not billed. Automated billing via Stripe will be activated later, and all affected users will be informed by email before any charge. No payment method is requested while billing is not active.

Can I try Ovarli without paying?

Yes. During the closed beta, use of the service is free for validated users. When billing is activated, a free trial period will be offered.

Your data

How do I export my data?

Full export in JSON format is coming in a future release (under development to honor your right to data portability under article 20 GDPR and article 28 FADP). In the meantime, write to hello@ovarli.app with your account email and we will provide the export within 30 days.

How do I delete my account and data?

Profile โ†’ "Danger zone" section โ†’ "Delete my account". Deletion triggers erasure or anonymization of your data, subject to legal retention obligations (in particular accounting if you have been billed). See our Privacy Policy for the detail of retention periods.

Do you sell my financial data?

No, never. Our only revenue source is subscriptions paid by users. Your financial data is accessible only to you and, for strictly necessary technical operations (backup, incident debugging), to a very limited number of people bound by a duty of confidentiality.

Does my data leave Switzerland?

The main hosting is in Switzerland. Some data does cross borders when you use opt-in features: AI advice goes through Anthropic (United States) after anonymization, and error tracking (Sentry) may transfer events to the United States or EU depending on the chosen plan. Details are in our Privacy Policy, sections 5 and 6.

If the error happened server-side, we likely already have a corresponding Sentry event that will help us diagnose quickly.

Always hello@ovarli.app. We read every suggestion and many end up on the public roadmap. Be as specific as possible about the need it would solve for you.
